Oatmeal

There is nothing fancy here.  It's just that I keep my oats in a different container than they come in and I can never remember the proportions, thus it is here for my benefit.  I will add that if you use old fashioned oats, you will have to cook it a bit longer.  Another trick is that if you like a cereal with some "tooth", follow these instructions.  If you like a smoother texture, add the cereal to the cold water.  If you like a richer cereal, try adding a mix of wheatena and/or cream of rice and/or cream of wheat cutting back on the Oats of course.  I hardly ever make it "straight".

1 2 6 Servings These instructions are for  quick oats. 

Stir oats into rapidly boiling salted water.  Boil 1 minute.  Stir occasionally.  Cover.  Remove from heat.  After a few minutes, stir and serve (with brown sugar of course)

1 1-3/4 5 Cups Water
dash 1/8 1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 1 3 Cups Oats
1/16 1/8 1/2 Cups Raisins or Currants
